Deirdre originally hails from County Cork. She graduated from the school of Veterinary Medicine in UCD in 2010 and worked in a busy mixed practice in Co Monaghan for three years, before joining the team at Southview in 2013.
After developing an interest in all things heart related, she completed a post graduate certificate in Small Animal Cardiology in 2018. She then became one of the first vets in Ireland and the UK to achieve her Advanced Certificate in Cardiology in 2024. She is a member of the European Society of Veterinary Cardiology and the UK's Veterinary Cardiovascular Society. She has a special interest in echocardiography, but also enjoys emergency medicine, soft tissue surgery and minimally invasive laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery.
Outside of work, Deirdre has a young family and a much-loved rescue whippet, Fuji. In her time off, she loves travelling, reading, eating and most importantly, being with family and friends.
